Seated in standard chair
I was asked to visit a resident in a local care home. The lady suffered with spinal deformity and struggled to sit upright in a standard chair. She was no longer able to stand and was hoisted for all transfers. Care staff had difficulty seating in an a comfortable position, and one in which she was not going to be a risk of developing pressure areas. She needed to prop herself up with pillows and hold onto the armrests of the chair in order to maintain an upright position.
Following my assessment I visited jointly with Seating Matters – www.seatingmatters.com
We trialled a Sorrento tilt in space chair and it was agreed that this would be ordered for my client.
It has now arrived and she is now seated in a much more comfortable position, and the risk of pressure ulcers has been reduced.
