I had the pleasure of working with a client in 2020-2022 to assist him undertake a large project to create an extension to his property to enable downstairs living.
My client was now needing to rely on a wheelchair for mobility, and therefore was struggling to reliably use the stairlift which had been fitted in the property some years previously. With my support, we applied for charitable funding, and sourced a limited pot to fund works to the property. He lives with his wife in a 3 bedroom semi detached property. The bathroom was on the ground floor but contained a bath which he could no longer independently transfer into.
We used a specialist firm to draft plans to create a wrap around extension at the rear and side of the property – creating a downstairs bedroom, wet floor shower room with toilet, a new utility room. The bedroom was equipped with a ceiling track hoist. Funds were quite limited, and therefore we needed to work within a very tight budget to achieve the goal.
There were challenges along with way in relation to planning permission, contractors and the good old British weather. But we got there in the end! Below are some photo’s given to me with kind permission from my client to use on this website.
