My client who suffers with Multiple Sclerosis, was experiencing difficulties getting in and out of bed. Smaller items of equipment had been trialled over the years but a more substantial items of equipment was now required.
Theraposture, offer a turning bed – the Rotoflex. The bed purchased was a split divan bed, enabling my client to remain sleeping with his wife; but with his section of the bed profiling and rotating enabling him to transfer in and out of bed with minimal support.
See the photographs of the bed which shows the range of positions it goes through to enable an individual to move in and out of bed.
Things to consider:
- 2 single duvets are required as when the turning bed operates it would remove the duvet from the other person sleeping in the bed.
- The armrest which ends up in the middle of the bed needs removing before lying flat.
- More space is required than a standard bed as when the bed is in it’s upright/chair type position it extends further than a standard bed would.
